Move In Day Essentials

We agree with so many experienced parents who have said “take the minimum to college and don’t over do the spending.” But here’s a list of PrimeDay deals we found with items we either know from personal experience or friendly suggestions are really helpful and worthwhile.

Move In Essentials for College

These deals are only available to Prime members. So if you’re not already a prime member it’s easy to become one, or you might want to cancel your own subscription and just share one with your student. You can still ship stuff to you, but doesn’t most of what you buy go to them anyway!!! And the student subscription is cheaper too!

1) Command Hooks

These hooks are amazing – strong, can be placed anywhere, and don’t leave marks on the wall when you remove them. Amazon has an amazing selection of these hooks in lots of sizes, strength, and styles.

2) Extra Long Charging Cords

5ft long iPhone charging cord

Students use their phones for everything these days and want it close by at all hours. Most dorms don’t have a lot of outlets, so best to make sure they have a LOOONG cord for being able to have their phone as an alarm to wake up on time.

10ft long charging cord

For the extra lazy student, who wants to make sure the phone is RIGHT next to them.

3) 4 Port USB Wall Charger

With so many things that need to be charged and so little outlets, this wall charger is a life saver being able to charge 4 devices at once.

4)Ultra Slim Velvet Hangers – Pack of 30

Closet space is scarce so make the most by using the slimmest hangers possible.

5) Hypoallegenic mattress cover

It’s nice to have a matress cover to know your student is sleeping on something clean. If you also choose to get a memory foam topper, the mattress cover holds everything in place. The foam toppers have a tendencies to move around.

6) Cordless Electric Kettle

My daughter wasn’t a coffee drinker and prefers tea, so she was more interested in making hot water. It turned out having hot water was also helpful for ramen noodles, oatmeal, or instead soup.

7) Mophie external mini battery

I have to admit, my husband showed me this battery the other week and I loved it. It’s small the carry around and quickly recharges your smartphone or tablet, so you don’t have to constantly be looking for an outlet if you’re out all day. It holds enough for 4  charges.

8) Keurig Coffee Brewer

For those coffee loving students, here’s something to have in the room so you don’t spend your dining points (if you’re allowed) or cash at Starbucks. Most dorms don’t allow traditional coffee makers, but that’s ok, these are so much better.

9) Extension cord, extra plubs and surge protector

You never know how many outlets will be in the dorm room and most likely, there are never enough. Also, being able to have extra outlets close to whever you need to be – desk or bed is helpful.
