As the numbers bear out, the overwhelming majority of scholarship money will come from institutional grants that colleges make to students. But, if you’ve done your college research and still have time to spare, then applying to private scholarships for more money can’t hurt. Below are scholarships with December deadlines. 2015 Bi-Annual College Scholarship Essay Contest

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a four-year college or university in the United States. Applicant must be planning to participate in full-time study abroad for at least one full semester outside of the United States.

Description: Contest is open to students in grades seven through 12 (or equivalent). Applicant must be sponsored by a branch of the Fleet Reserve Association or a unit of the Ladies Auxiliary. Applicant must submit an essay on the theme, “What the United States Flag Stands For.”

Francis Ouimet Scholarship
