Effective date: October 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Destination U, Inc., doing business as Road2College (“Road2College,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use road2college.com, insights.road2college.com, compareoffers.road2college.com, our tools, emails, webinars, paid services, and our online communities (together, the “Services”). It also explains the choices and rights you have.

This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and account information: name, email address, password, and similar details when you subscribe to our newsletter, create an account, register for a webinar, fill out a form, or contact us.
  • College planning information: information you enter into our tools, such as your student’s graduation year or grade level, colleges applied to, admissions results, financial aid offers, cost of attendance, merit and need-based aid, test scores, GPA, household income range, and Student Aid Index or similar figures.
  • Information for paid services: details and documents you share for coaching, counseling, or review services, such as essays, financial aid offers, appeal letters, or CSS Profile information.
  • Payment information: when you make a purchase, payments are processed by our payment processor (such as Stripe). We receive limited information such as your name, email, billing details, and the last four digits of your card, but we do not store full card numbers.
  • Community information: when you ask to join our Paying for College 101 Facebook group, you may answer membership questions, including providing your email address. We use those answers to review your request and may add your email address to our email list as described below. Anything you post in the group is visible to other members and governed by Facebook’s policies.
  • Communications: messages, survey responses, comments, and feedback you send us.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we and our partners automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, approximate location (city or region), and whether you open or click our emails. We collect this using cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies, described in Section 5.

Information from other sources

We may receive information from partners and service providers, such as webinar platforms, advertising and analytics providers, affiliate networks (for example, to confirm that a referral was completed), and Facebook.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and personalize the Services, including our tools, reports, webinars, and paid services;
  • Process payments, manage subscriptions, and provide customer support;
  • Send newsletters, webinar invitations, and other emails about college admissions, paying for college, our services, and offers from our partners that may be relevant to you;
  • Show advertising on our Services and measure the performance of our marketing, including on social media;
  • Analyze how the Services are used and improve them;
  • Create aggregated and de-identified data, research, and reports (see Section 4);
  • Protect the security of the Services and prevent fraud or misuse; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. How we share information

We share personal information in the following ways:

  • Service providers: companies that help us run the Services, such as hosting, email and customer relationship management (for example, HubSpot), payment processing, webinar hosting, analytics, customer support, and software tools, including artificial intelligence tools. They may use personal information only to provide services to us.
  • Coaches and counselors: if you purchase a 1-on-1 service, we share the information needed to deliver it with the coach or counselor assigned to you.
  • Webinar and event sponsors: some webinars are sponsored by partners, such as lenders or other financial services companies. If a registration form says your information will be shared with a sponsor, we share your registration details with that sponsor, which will use it under its own privacy policy.
  • Advertising and analytics partners: we work with partners such as Google, Meta (Facebook), and Mediavine, which collect information through cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, including ads tailored to your interests. See Section 5.
  • Affiliate partners: when you click certain links, such as links to lenders or loan marketplaces, the partner may receive information that the click came from us so we can be credited for referrals. If you apply for a product, the information you provide on the partner’s site is governed by that partner’s privacy policy.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, personal information may be transferred to the buyer or successor, which will continue to protect it as described in this policy unless you are notified otherwise.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or government request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Road2College, our users, or others.
  • With your consent: or at your direction.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some of our advertising and analytics activities may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or “targeted advertising,” under certain state privacy laws. You can opt out as described in Section 8.

4. Aggregated and de-identified data

We combine information that families submit, such as financial aid offers, admissions results, and academic and income ranges, to create aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify any individual. We use this data to power our tools, publish research and reports (such as our Merit Aid Report), and develop products and insights, and we may share or license it to others. We take reasonable measures to ensure de-identified data cannot reasonably be linked back to you, and we do not attempt to re-identify it.

5. Cookies, advertising, and tracking

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember your preferences, understand how the Services are used, and deliver and measure advertising. These include tools from Google (including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and YouTube), Meta (Facebook Pixel), HubSpot, and Mediavine.

Your cookie choices. We use a consent tool (Cookiebot) that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choices at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in our website footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some features may not work properly.

Advertising by Mediavine. Our website works with Mediavine to manage third-party, interest-based advertising. Mediavine and its partners may collect and use information such as your IP address, device and browser details, operating system, language preferences, and a hashed (encoded) version of your email address to deliver ads, measure their effectiveness, and create audience segments, and may combine this with information they collect from other websites. If you decline cookies, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

Opting out of interest-based ads. You can learn more and opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance, and, for mobile apps, the AppChoices app. To opt out of Google Analytics, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also adjust ad settings in your Google and Facebook accounts.

Global Privacy Control. Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser.

6. Your email choices

You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. If you unsubscribe, we may still send you messages related to your account, purchases, or registrations.

7. Children and students

Our Services are designed primarily for parents and families of college-bound students. Students age 13 and older may use certain Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us at support@road2college.com.

Purchases and paid accounts must be made by an adult age 18 or older, or by a minor with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, and to get a copy;
  • Correction: to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Deletion: to ask us to delete personal information;
  • Opt out: of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, and certain profiling; and
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have these rights under their state’s law. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link or adjust your choices through Cookie Settings.

How to make a request. Email support@road2college.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity before completing access, correction, or deletion requests, and will respond within the time required by applicable law, generally within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of that authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.”

Users outside the United States. Our Services are operated in the United States and intended for U.S. users. If you access them from the European Union, United Kingdom, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where applicable law gives you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, or to withdraw consent, you may exercise them by contacting us, and you may file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. Aggregated and de-identified data may be kept indefinitely.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.

11. Third-party sites and services

The Services link to websites and services operated by others, including lenders, partners, and social media platforms. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date, and if we make material changes we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Services before the changes take effect.
