Affiliate & Compensation Disclosure
Effective Date: June 2026
Road2College is committed to transparency. This page explains how we earn revenue, how we choose our partners, and what that means for the recommendations we make.
Who we are
Road2College is an independent educational resource founded in 2016 to help middle-income families navigate college admissions and paying for college. We are not a lender, financial institution, or government agency. We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education.
How we earn revenue
Road2College earns revenue in the following ways:
Affiliate commissions: Some links on our website are affiliate links. If you click a link and apply for or take out a loan, we may earn a commission from the lender. This commission comes from the lender, not from you, and never affects the interest rate or loan terms you receive. Not all lender links are affiliate links.
Sponsored content and webinars: We partner with companies to produce sponsored articles, tip sheets, and webinars. Sponsored content is always identified as such. Our editorial positions are not for sale, and sponsors do not direct or approve our advice.
Display advertising: We display third-party ads on our website through programmatic advertising networks.
Paid memberships: We offer paid subscriptions to our R2C Insights platform.
1-on-1 services: We offer paid essay coaching and college counseling services.
How we choose our partners and lenders
We only recommend lenders and partners we believe genuinely serve our audience. We evaluate lenders based on:
- Customer service reputation
- Competitiveness of interest rates
- Repayment term flexibility
- Co-signer release policies
- Borrower protections
We do not rank lenders in a paid order. Our lender lists are presented without ranking intentionally.
We always encourage families to shop at least three lenders and compare independently before making any borrowing decision.
Our editorial independence
Compensation does not influence our editorial content, advice, or tool recommendations. Road2College’s content is written and reviewed based on what we believe is most helpful and accurate for families navigating college costs.
Our Facebook community
Road2College founded and operates the Paying for College 101 Facebook group. When we share lender links or partner information in the group, the same affiliate relationships described above may apply.
Questions
If you have any questions about a specific recommendation, partnership, or affiliate relationship, contact us directly at info@road2college.com. We will always answer honestly.
